The Benefits of Parcel Lockers

Parcel lockers have become a common sight within the UK as of late. This is directly linked to the growth of online shopping. Many people now order food, their weekly shop, clothes, and anything else online and within the comfort of their own home.

What is a parcel locker?

A parcel locker is essentially a large storage facility for parcels. They are essentially a place that a courier can leave your item safely which is extremely beneficial if you may not be home to receive the item.

They are easy to use, once a courier gains access to your locker via their access code, they are able to place the parcel inside. Once locked no one but the recipient will be able to unlock the locker. They are able to open the locker as soon as the item is locked inside. They will receive a code that can be used to collect their item.

Parcel lockers can accept deliveries from any courier with packages sent from friends, family, and online retailers. Parcel lockers are sometimes refrigerated which helps to keep things such as groceries longer. Because these refrigerated lockers keep temperature-sensitive items cool, recipients don’t need to rush home to prevent their package contents from spoiling.

What are the benefits of parcel lockers?

Convenience

As previously stated, many of us like to do our shopping online now. Online shopping allows you to get everything you need in the comfort of your own home. Some items are considered to be online exclusives too which encourages more online spending. However, despite all of the lures and benefits, online shopping does come with a few downsides. Sometimes a delivery could be missed as the recipient will not be home to answer the door to the courier. Whereas, a locker can be accessed whenever the recipient can get to it. If they have to return the item, they can basically use the same system.

Secure

Package theft is still a concern for many people. Sometimes when the recipient is not in, a courier will leave the parcel outside of the house in a safe place. This is often fine but there is a chance that a thief may attempt to steal it. Instead of leaving a parcel outside of a house, a parcel locker can provide a safe place to temporarily store a parcel with very little chance that it will be stolen. Only the courier (when placing the parcel inside) and the recipient will have a code to enter the locker.

Affordable

Another benefit that parcel lockers boast is the fact that this service is usually free to the customer and bought by the company. If you own a business, you may be interested to know that parcel lockers can be designed to fit with your brand. They can be branded with logos and feature a colour palette to match the store’s interior and exterior appearance. This will draw attention to the brand as well as providing more reason for your customer to pop in store.
