Founded over 38 years ago by Managing Director Shaun Merrick, Speed Couriers has progressed a long way from the almost derelict Station House that served as the company’s first office and operating centre – here’s a brief snapshot of our history.
A grant from the Princes Youth Business Trust, back-breaking work renovating the Old Railway Station House, and a couple of motorbikes launched Speed Couriers onto the emerging Manchester courier scene in 1985 and formed the basis of the company that has endured the years and grown to become the North West’s longest established and largest independent Same day Courier.
Total commitment to customer service, borne out by numerous business awards over many years, has ensured consistent growth even through the lean times. After 7 prosperous years in the Station House the business relocated to its present home within Trafford Park.
Now based in a dedicated courier operations centre, with easy access to Manchester City Centre and the entire UK via the M60 Orbital Motorway, the business has developed significantly.
From offering only same day parcel delivery via motorbike in the mid eighties Speed has developed and grown its service range in line with customers needs. Encompassing both same day and overnight deliveries, medical couriers, exhibition and event transport, and specialist services such as tech-couriers and retail logistics, Speed really can deliver the goods.
With a wide range of vehicles from motorbikes and vans to trucks, and a fleet numbering in excess of 70, we’re sure to have something to meet your needs.
Speed Medical Couriers is our dedicated healthcare division, offering secure and reliable delivery solutions for NHS Trusts, GP surgeries, and private pathology providers across the UK.
